About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Consultant to join our growing volunteer team under Project Sidekick. This is a hands-on support role for someone who understands nonprofit systems, enjoys solving complex data challenges, and wants to make a meaningful difference behind the scenes.
As a Technical Consultant, you’ll work alongside our Program Director and Technical Director to support nonprofit partners during onboarding, help them navigate data readiness hurdles, and improve the reliability of their internal systems. You’ll have the chance to work directly with changemakers across sectors while building scalable solutions that serve the broader nonprofit community.
This is a volunteer position, ideal for someone who is technically skilled, mission-driven, and eager to support social good with their time and expertise.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Partner Onboarding & Support
Assist nonprofits during onboarding by helping prepare CRM or donor data
Support mapping, formatting, and deduplication of constituent data
Help partners connect or migrate data between tools (e.g. CRM, spreadsheets)
Troubleshoot minor tech issues related to data files, imports, or platform setup
Provide light documentation or video walkthroughs to guide self-service when needed
Data Infrastructure & Automation
Collaborate with the technical team to test and improve data support tools
Recommend and configure lightweight automations (e.g. formatting scripts, triggers)
Provide feedback on tools under development to improve UX for partners
Assist with QA and internal testing of automation workflows as needed
Internal Collaboration
Participate in team huddles, sprint planning, and progress check-ins
Log activity, feedback, and key notes in Notion or other internal systems
Share learnings with the team to improve repeatability and partner experience
Qualifications
Experience with nonprofit CRMs (e.g. Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, Salesforce NPSP) or equivalent data tools
Strong understanding of spreadsheets, data formatting, and import/export workflows
Comfort with light automation tools (Zapier, Make.com, n8n, etc.) or willingness to learn
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Service-minded attitude and high attention to detail
Passion for nonprofit missions and data-driven impact
