About the Role

We are seeking a Program Director to join The Kertcher Foundation’s leadership team. This is a high-impact volunteer position ideal for a systems-minded operator who can move quickly, create structure from ambiguity, and lead with both execution and long-term vision.

As Program Director, you’ll work alongside the Executive Director and Technical Director to strengthen our operational capacity, support onboarding of nonprofit partners, and establish scalable internal systems. This role will evolve over time — beginning with hands-on implementation and growing into a strategic leadership position overseeing our internal Data Readiness division.

This is not a paid position. It is a volunteer opportunity to lead transformative work in the nonprofit sector and shape foundational infrastructure that supports organizations doing good.

Requirements

Role Timeline & Responsibilities

Phase 1: Infrastructure Buildout (0–6 months)

Lay the foundation for operational excellence and early-stage partner engagement:

  • Personally guide partner onboarding through setup and implementation

  • Support outreach workflows by ensuring timely follow-up and coordination

  • Create program playbooks, templates, and documentation to support onboarding

  • Build internal workflows and process documentation in Notion and related tools

  • Lead data preparation efforts (e.g. list formatting, mapping, deduplication)

  • Track onboarding success metrics to improve outcomes and retention

  • Begin scoping automation and workflow improvements for long-term scale

  • Partner with executive leadership to establish operating rhythms and standards

Phase 2: Systemization & Expansion (6–12 months)

Move from manual execution to repeatable, scalable structures:

  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers or contractors to assist with onboarding

  • Define success metrics (e.g. time-to-onboard, retention indicators, engagement levels)

  • Collaborate with the technical team to test internal data support tools

  • Standardize data templates, import flows, and quality controls

  • Lead sprint planning, internal check-ins, and operational reviews

Phase 3: Division Ownership (12+ months)

Own and scale The Kertcher Foundation’s Data Readiness efforts:

  • Build and lead the Data Readiness Division to support nonprofits at scale

  • Create and manage multiple service tiers based on partner needs and size

  • Deliver tools and templates for data validation, integrity, and CRM readiness

  • Integrate these tools into our broader program workflows and training

  • Help refine our service delivery model for efficiency and partner satisfaction

Ongoing Responsibilities

Internal Operations

  • Manage organizational tools (Slack, Notion, Monday, etc.) and process workflows

  • Maintain dashboards and reporting on onboarding, support, and internal metrics

  • Develop and maintain SOPs that promote accountability and consistency

Partner Experience

  • Oversee onboarding through full activation and program completion

  • Identify and proactively support at-risk partners to improve engagement

  • Lead development of training resources and knowledge hubs for ongoing success

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all data is handled responsibly and in accordance with relevant privacy frameworks (e.g. GDPR, CCPA)

  • Maintain internal documentation and audit processes to promote transparency

Strategic & Executive Support

  • Serve as a right-hand to the Executive Director on cross-functional initiatives

  • Help prepare strategic updates for board members, funders, or key partners

  • Drive clarity and execution across the organization through structured follow-up
